A Streetcar Named Desire is a play written by Tennessee Williams and it has been considered as one of his best plays. We could say that a theme of this play is the constant battle between illusion and reality amongst some of the characters. This is mostly noticed in the three main characters’ roles Blanche DuBois, Stella Kowalski and Stanley Kowalski. Every character lives life as an illusion or as a reallity. Many of them use illusion as an escape from the real world they live in.
